...Sunflower husks are burned as fuel for the operation of oil mills, but only half of the husks can be used on-site for energy generation. The remaining half must be transported away for energy recovery or other purposes, such as composting, as bedding material, or as low-quality roughage for livestock. However, due to their low density, they have a low weight and volume, making them expensive and impractical to transport. For sunflower oil producers or sunflower seed processors, dealing with useless husks has become a bothersome problem.
