A distiller increases the temperature of the water, and the volatile gases that escape during this process are vented through a small opening. Once the water reaches 100 degrees Celsius, it destroys bacteria, viruses, and other germs. Therefore, the condensed water vapor is what provides the water of complete purity. As the hot water evaporates, all kinds of chemicals (e.g., pesticides, pharmaceutical residues, hormones, etc.), viruses, salts, and other impurities remain in the boiling vessel. Thus, it purifies the water.
