DOMAINE JOMAIN is an 8-hectare vineyard in PULIGNY-MONTRACHET, of which 2.60 hectares primarily produce world-renowned white wines made from the Chardonnay grape in the village, 1er cru, and grand cru appellations. The strength of DOMAINE JOMAIN also lies in its grape variety: Pinot Noir (small clusters with black berries and white juice, a noble grape for great reds). Traditional aging and bottling are carried out meticulously without excessive manipulation of the wines, under the close supervision of an accredited oenology laboratory. They do not often appear in the Guide; here is the opportunity to discover them, through this dark red wine with a licorice and menthol nose, which opens up with aeration to reveal black fruits and plum. Powerful, rich, tense, and long, this 2011 aged in new oak shows somewhat abrupt tannins today that suggest it should be kept for at least five years. It will make a great bottle that would pair well with a beef filet with morels.
