GRAPE VARIETIES Merlot 80% Cabernet Sauvignon 20% WINEMAKING The wine is made with a traditional vinification, starting with a prefermentation cold maceration during 2 to 3 days and then followed by the alcoholic fermentation combined with a warm maceration during 2 to 3 weeks at controlled temperatures, in order to extract the optimum level of flavors, color and tannins. The wine is then aged in tank until the bottling which takes place in the castle.
The VIGNERONS REUNIS DE MONSEGUR represent a Bordeaux cooperative winery. The vineyards of the winemakers at the Monségur cellar cover nearly 1300 hectares of red grapes and 100 hectares of white grapes. The following grape varieties can be found: Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon for red grapes, and Sauvignon, Sémillon, and Muscadelle for white grapes. The cooperative winery is committed to establishing product traceability, the bottler of the cellar is certified ISO 9001 and IFS – BRC, and the cellar is in the process of obtaining Terra Vitis accreditation (sustainable farming).
