...In the French valley, a small Cévennes valley in Lozère, a blacksmith, more of a toolmaker, crafted tools, picks, sickles, and knives. The forge was set up by the stream "Galteyrès," and the heated iron, glowing cherry red in the hearth, was shaped using a hammer (a type of pounding hammer) and tempered in the stream's water mixed with cade oil to perfectly control the hardness.
