... The tubular heating elements are sealed to prevent magnesium oxide from absorbing moisture, which could lead to a short circuit in the heating element. Two different types of sealing materials are used. Their application depends on the temperatures they are exposed to: • Silicone: max. 180°C • Polyurethane: max. 120°C Silicone can only be used in continuous operation, as it is not diffusion-tight, which would otherwise allow moisture transfer. Polyurethane is diffusion-tight and seals metal well.
