They are not wetted by liquid non-ferrous melts, eliminating the need for complex finishing. SILCAFUSE components are ceramic-bound, thermally pre-fired, and free of crystal water. SILCAFUSE has an extremely low reversible thermal expansion and therefore possesses very good temperature cycling resistance. As a result, SILCAFUSE components do not need to be preheated and are ready for immediate use. Especially in the case of casting channels, the extremely low thermal expansion is advantageous, as the joints can be cast, resulting in virtually no seams. In combination with our microporous backing insulation SILCAPOR, energy losses in the channels are minimized and the temperature homogeneity of the melt is significantly improved. ◾good mechanical strength ◾not wetted by non-ferrous melts ◾minimal thermal expansion ◾good abrasion resistance ◾high temperature cycling resistance ◾variable design options
