The essential characteristics of this PVD coating are a coefficient of friction of 0,35 and a max. coating hardness of 2.600 HV. The high coating toughness reduces microscopic cracks in the Surface. Typical applications are plastic and non-ferrous metal such as copper and titan.

The low thermal conductivity effects a very good thermal insulation that increases the possible cutting speed. Besides that the TiAlN coating reduces the need of cooling lubricant. Typical applications are high-alloyed steel or cast iron.
