RHEIN-PLAST and the plastic polyethylene. It was the exciting application developments surrounding the plastic polyethylene (PE) at the nearby BASF that inspired Karl Eisemann to set up the first machines for the production of bags made from films in the premises of his blacksmith and plumbing business in Ruchheim, a present-day district of Ludwigshafen, and to bring these to market. In 1959, he founded RHEIN-PLAST Eisemann & Schäfer together with his brother-in-law Heinrich Schäfer, which became RHEIN-PLAST GmbH in 1961. Unfortunately, he could only oversee his company for a few years until shortly before his death in 1966. A few years after the founding, his two sons, Hermann and Norbert, joined the company, followed by the third son, Hans-Georg Eisemann, in 1966. Together, the three brothers took over the company shares and management. Sadly, the father and company founder passed away in the same year. In 1969, the company moved to a completely newly constructed building in the nearby Ungstein near Bad Dürkheim. To this day, this is the headquarters of RHEIN-PLAST, which has been part of the RINGMETALL group since February 2022. There, it complements the Industrial Packaging Liner business area, further strengthening the group's market position in the field of industrial specialty packaging. In Bad Dürkheim, high-quality, recyclable films are produced in-house through blow film extrusion, printing, and finishing.
