PORTEC was founded in 1994 as a "spin off" from TU Ilmenau and currently employs 23 staff members, with 30% holding a university degree. With 4 apprentices and a BA student, the company ensures its own professional development. Initially, the customer base was primarily located in the old federal states, but sales have fortunately increased significantly in our Thuringian region in recent years. Exports have also developed positively, with deliveries mainly to Austria, France, Spain, and Switzerland. For years, PORTEC has been engaged in regular research activities with universities, renowned research institutions, and companies. In addition to its own research projects, it was also involved in the development of the new turbine for the A380. This opens up new technologies and creates competitive advantages.
