How is it different from regular green tea? It is sweeter and brighter than it. All this is due to the fact that the shrubs that are intended for the production of Matcha tea are protected from the sun with special mats before harvesting. This results in an increased production of amino acids that contribute to the deeper and unique flavor of Matcha Tee. Shading causes more chlorophyll to be produced in the leaves, which is converted into catechin over time. The leaves are then harvested, dried and rubbed into a powder. Green tea is obtained from the same plant (Camellia sinensis) as black tea. In contrast to black tea, green tea isn't fermented but gently steamed and dried. Most of the health benefits of green tea are attributed to the catechins, a group of polyphenols, which gives the tea a bitter taste. Particularly noteworthy is the epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), which are very high antioxidant activity. To the high-quality green tea extract in our capsules we have added vitamin C. Each capsule contains 400 mg green tea extract with 380 mg of polyphenols and 160 mg EGCG.
