After 15 years of intensive professional experience as a bricklayer, the vision to produce independently matured - it all began in 1973. The garage of my residential house became the first production site. With great pride, I sold the first handcrafted "Waschbetonplatten" to my friends. This quality craftsmanship led to an increasing number of customer inquiries. Now I felt validated by the success, and the next investment step followed. On 390m² of operational land and in a 100m² shed, I was already working with 2 employees. Customer requests and custom orders prompted me to also produce steps, plant troughs, and fence covers with a self-built vibrating machine. In 1977, my tireless thinking about improvements led me to the current business location. Gradually, I established the production area according to my vision. The slab press, mixing plant, and the design of the storage area followed, and with the 586er Steyr truck, I was already supplying construction companies and building material dealers. In addition to her active, manual support, my wife helped me improve the services in the office. The continuous growth of the company and the commitment of my two daughters, Johanna and Josefa, led me to transform the sole proprietorship into a family business - "Josef Schappelwein GmbH" was founded. By 1985, the next goal was achieved - 20,000m² of operational area in family ownership. The innovative and responsible thinking and actions of my son-in-law give me confidence in the continued success of the family business Schappelwein. Today, thanks to the dedication of 27 employees, we can offer you innovative Schappelwein products and are specialists in custom solutions.
