COOPERATIVE DES SAUNIERS DE L ILE DE RE

Born from a strong desire to take their destiny into their own hands, the salt producers of Île de Ré established their Cooperative in 1942. Today, 85 salt producers are united to pool their human and material resources to ensure the operations necessary for the sale of their salt: collection, storage, packaging, and marketing. The salt marshes are still operated in the same way as in the 12th century. Today, thanks to an investment program and a rigorous quality approach, the cooperative continues its goal: to combine tradition and modernity. The Salt Marshes of Île de Ré Annual harvest (on average): - 2500 tons of coarse salt - 150 tons of fleur de sel The Cooperative consists of: - 20 employees - Harvesting using ancestral methods for coarse salt and fleur de sel with traditional tools QUALITY APPROACH The Cooperative of Salt Producers of Île de Ré began its quality approach in 1997 by implementing internal specifications to ensure the quality of delivered products (selection by chromametry and granulometry). Since then, the Cooperative has participated in numerous official quality sign projects such as the Regional Association of Food Industries - Poitou Charentes. The cooperative is also certified: - IFS version 6 at the highest level since January 2013.
