BIRKAN GmbH is one of the oldest graphic specialty dealers in Germany. It was founded in 1924 as Drucktuch-Vertrieb Birkner & Kandlbinder OHG with its own patent for the then-revolutionary Triumph rubber printing blanket. BIRKAN is still successful with offset rubber blankets, which are processed in-house – one of the largest and most modern facilities in Europe – and exported to over 100 countries worldwide. BIRKAN offers a comprehensive range of various printing blanket qualities not only for common offset applications but also for special requirements from plastic to metal to intaglio printing. Supporting materials (sheets, films, pressboard, blankets) and measuring devices are also part of the product range. A large warehouse enables timely deliveries worldwide. As a special service, BIRKAN offers the option of a commissioning warehouse. A newer branch of the company, laser direct engraving, focuses on the production of elastomer printing forms for manufacturers of flexible packaging, labels, cups, or lacquer finishes. In the environmentally friendly, solvent-free laser direct engraving, BIRKAN uses the latest technology – from software to the XL fiber laser. Together with the prepress service provider and cliché manufacturer HANS KAPPL, Nürnberg, which has been part of the company since 2014, BIRKAN GmbH offers its customers the full spectrum of printing forms, from polymer to elastomer, as well as comprehensive prepress services.
