What is considered 'normal' is regulated by laws – particularly in the Road Traffic Licensing Regulations (StVZO). Roughly speaking, anything over 44 tons total weight is classified as heavy transport. Mainly, the following types can be distinguished: Large transports, meaning large dimensions and low weight (for example, a sheet silo or a tank as cargo) Heavy transports, meaning small dimensions but very high weight (for example, a demolition excavator) Large and heavy transports, which is a combination of points 1 and 2 (for example, large transformers or turbines as cargo)
